This visa is available to people who wish to work in Australia for up to four years and who have an offer of sponsorship from an Australian business. There are generally three steps involved in employing a person from overseas to work in Australia.
Stage 1: The business applies to be approved as a business sponsor.
Stage 2: The business nominates the overseas employee for the position.
Stage 3: The prospective employee applies for the Australian work visa.
Stage 1 - Business Sponsorship Application Requirements
The employer needs to show that the business:
ü Is a lawful and actively operating business;
ü Will be the direct employer;
ü Has a sound business record and abides by immigration laws;
ü The employment will bring economic benefit to Australia; and
ü Will advance its employee’s skills with training.
Stage 2 - Nomination Application Requirements
The employer needs to show:
ü The business is an approved business sponsor;
ü The position relates to an occupation which meets a minimum skill set;
ü The position is to be paid at or above the minimum salary level.
Stage 3 - Visa Application Requirements
The employer needs to show that the business has been approved as a sponsor and the nominated position is approved.
The employee needs to show that they have the qualifcations and skills for the position.
